Profiting from expertise in one of the Worlds oldest and most secure jobs.

Then: 5000 BC
It is possible that the worlds oldest profession is different from what you have been told. The first profession may have came part and parcel with what may have been the worlds first lasting complex invention.

The invention: The Wheel, a tool

A load bearing disk with an shaft hole centered on the disk (probably first made of hand split trunks or split limbs around an axis, maybe woven sticks?),  later; an assembly of spokes connecting inner and outer concentric, load bearing rings, all centered on an axle.

The Job: To Truck

With his new tool, Man could now move more and heavier things longer distances.  "
To TRUCK" and  the trucks' decedent  impact on future societies was born.

Today 2006 Man and Machine
Just like six thousand years ago,  the wheel remains mankind's universally useful ground based tool to overcome gravity and friction to help mankind move self and items from place to place.

The big advances in powering the wheel came around two hundred or so years ago with the steam engine & and steel wheels on rails, a bigger advance yet a 100 or so years later with the internal combustion engine.

With all the continuing advances in the history of the wheel and transportation, still, it is ultimately man and machine; A tool put to use by an individual.

I argue that such a partnership, this man and machine partnership has gone on for thousands of years, still holds, and will still hold.  And, the man or woman who takes the time to become expert... they have chosen as secure a track as any for a secure future.

With a bit of planning it is possible to enter most any market.  The trick is finding the right market for you and the right tool(s) to help you serve the market.

It works both ways... often, the control of the tool leads to the market but equally, knowledge of the market can lead to control of the tool.

This is something that is not  all that hard to do. The site is full of hints that may help you find your niche... and if you are so inclined, how you might profitably control a very useful tool, or sequence of tools for as long as you choose.
