For those of us who make our career with trucks, we only need to look at the trucks of yesteryear to see from where we came as well as how far we have come... real world examples of how each of us stand on the shoulders of those who came before. You will find that many of the truckWeb sites' ownership tips and concepts originated with the most successful of those old time truck owners. Strong fundamentals seldom change. The few historical truck photo's on this page and in the background of many of truckWeb's pages are thanks to the June 2005 American Truck Historical Society Show in Auburn, Indiana... heaven for anyone who appreciates trucks! There may have been a thousand, probably more; old trucks and thousands more happy people who enjoy fine old machines, were glad they were where they were - those bright June days. I was at it a couple of days and took about 400 pictures... I wanted to photo a trail of progress in truck design, but there was too much. Wow! I captured maybe 150 trucks and I only scratched the surface. One day I will get more of those photos on line... timeless stuff! I may be retired before I can take the time to track and demonstrate the specific trails of progress these fine old machines exhibit. I can only hope that in 50 or a 100 years some of the trucks I helped specify and build are featured at some future show. ld |
