Have no well thought out plan
Do little or no research
Buy a new or used truck that doesn't sell well in the used truck market
Finance the truck with little or no money down
Work the truck in 'low pay/utilization rate' ratio markets (paid little, worked hard & long)
Know more about Cherry Masters than truck maintenance procedures
Have no; backup plans if plan 'A' falls apart
Want to be first up every hill
Check tires (pressure, wear patterns) every now and then
go for the low payment and long time until equity plan
show your dispatcher, customer and suppliers the dark side of your personality
don't know about cavitation

Unsuccessful trucker owners I have known over the past 40 or so years will carry a tale of woe regarding at least one of the above...
